This course supports kaimahi working alongside whānau Māori affected by family violence.
It recognises that whānau experiences cannot be understood apart from the histories and ongoing impacts of colonisation, and that meaningful change begins with understanding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and our collective responsibilities under it.
Hei Hoa Haere contributes to Te Aorerekura by strengthening the cultural, historical, relational, and reflective foundations needed for safer practice with whānau Māori. It supports learning toward selected Essential and Entry level capabilities from the Family Violence Entry to Expert Capability Framework, while sitting alongside specialist family violence training, supervision, organisational policies, and referral pathways.
The course offers space to reflect on how those histories shape today’s realities — and how, through your mahi, you can contribute to restoring mana, strengthening relationships, and supporting whānau wellbeing.
